Emma Reader-Lee was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, where she began studying violin at age three with Yasuko Eastman. In 2021 she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Music in Performance, where she studied with Jean-Hee Lee and the late Yehonatan Berick. She currently studies with Erika Raum at the University of Toronto, where she has just completed her first year of her Masters’ degree in performance.

Emma has received many solo and chamber music awards on the local and provincial level, and represented her home province in the strings category at the National Music Festival in 2017. She has also served as concertmaster of the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra and held the position of concertmaster mentee in the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra’s Student Mentorship Program in partnership with the University of Ottawa in 2019.
